Last shot from the wet plate workshop @penumbrafoundation taught by @elmalayheehoo a few weeks ago. This is a wet plate negative I shot with one of my classmates, @juliet2233. Negatives need to be denser than ambrotypes or tintypes, so this was a long exposure, about 27 seconds.
First shot is a scan of the negative. Second is a silver halide contact print. Third is a cyanotype. No Mo’ HoJo.
Was bored and feeling the absence of last week’s class, so I went out shooting. Took a bunch of cameras, but the one that wanted to be used was the Polaroid 250, loaded with long-expired Type 669. I think it’s close to ten years past date. The colors are a bit off, but really, not by that much. @lauraschreckinger and @juliet2233 asked me to help them with a shot of the two of them in our wet plate collodion workshop at @penumbrafoundation last weekend. I loved the setup so much that I asked if I could grab a quick #polaroid of them. Shot with my #sx70 on expired #impossibleproject color film. I think the muted colors of the expired film work well here. But I have to say, the tintype looked better. :-) #film #filmphotography #instant #happy

See ya in April
I have a Kodak Instamatic 500, one of the best cameras made for 126 film. Unfortunately, the last cartridge of 126 film was made about ten years ago. What to do? I have a couple of empty cartridges from Ferrania Solaris 200, which was the last film available in the format. 35mm is the same size as 126, although it has different perforations. So I loaded up my old Ferrania cartridge with some new @filmferrania P30 black and white film. It seemed like the most appropriate choice.

Silver baths.
After coating your aluminum plate or piece of glass with collodion, you submerge it into a bath of iodized silver nitrate. This is what makes the plate sensitive to light. Silver nitrate stains, hence the look of these baths.
