Returning to the theme of Hot Texas Wieners, Libby’s Lunch in Paterson is one of the first places to originate the dish. They’re located near the Great Falls in Paterson on land owned by the city. Unfortunately, they are on the verge of shutting down, as their landlord, the aforementioned city of Paterson, is not happy that they haven’t received rent in the past three years. Oops. Home of the Hot Dog
In a corner of northern New Jersey, the local delicacy is a grilled hot dog covered in onions, mustard, and chili. This is referred to for some reason as a Hot Texas Wiener. River View East in Elmwood Park is one of the classic spots that specializes in this gastronomic experience. I’ve eaten here often, as it is about a mile from where my wife grew up.
