Last summer, I spent a few days in Michigan. I brought my Sinar A-1 and the last of my original release hand-coated @new55film. With my last shot of that film, I took this photo of the Mackinac Bridge. When I processed it, one of the pods didn’t break, a not uncommon occurrence on some of the early versions of New55. In this case, it works. I love how the spread of the developer mirrors the shape of the bridge. #film #filmphotography #instantfilm #new55 #new55pn #new55film

State Marina. Shot on @new55film with my Speed Graphic. I was trying to figure out why so many of my shots had this black smoke effect. The periodic nature of it suggested roller problems in my 545 holder. Dutch Girl, Belford Harbor. Shot this morning with my #speedgraphic on @new55film. First post-workshop New55 shot I've taken. Used some of what I learned; shot at EI 100 instead of box speed (ISO 50). When the sleeve jammed, I took the camera and holder into a dark room and reassembled the package so I didn't lose the shot. Pretty happy with the results. Although I do wonder about the bits that look like black plumes of smoke and what causes that. #instantphoto #film #filmphotography #filmphotographic

Portrait of @estherfh72, a fellow student in this weekend's #new55 workshop at @penumbrafoundation taught by @swhiser. This was the first time I've used the Speed Graphic in portrait orientation, and the framing isn't what I saw in the viewfinder thanks to parallax, but I like it. The lighting is maybe a bit harsh because I was shooting handheld with slow film and needed her to be in direct sunlight. I used a reflector (thanks for holding it, @oliveoilphoto) off to her right to try and soften the light. #new55film #new55pn #largeformat #film #filmphotography #filmisnotdead #istillshootfilm
